Saturday Night at the Movies

Movie: We're the Millers

Rating: ***(out of 5)

Comments:   This movie was good. Definitely not a movie to watch with the lil ones.  Lots of cursing and a crazy part with a spider and some male anatomy.  It was pretty funny.  I love Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston, both super funny. I've loved Jennifer ever since FRIENDS.  She is just so pretty, why Brad left her I'll always wonder.  But back to the movie, it was funny.  My husband and I were chucking the whole time.  There were some scenes that were on the border of crazy.  All in all a good funny movie, good story and a funny concept.  I would watch it again.  I don't think we'll buy it.

Saturday Night at the Movies

Movie: Argo

Rating: ***(out of 5)

Comments:   This movie was good.  It started off a little slow.  Then about the last hour it got really good. Super suspenseful at the end! It's crazy how this was a true story.  I can't even imagine being one of those embassy people trying to get out of a country that wants to keep you.  Apparently the allure of Hollywood can blind anyone.  Ben Affleck was awesome in this movie.  We waited until the kids were asleep to watch this.  I know Mills would not have any interest.

Saturday Night at the Movies {Special Edition}

Movie: The Walking Dead

Rating: ****(out of 5)

Comments:   Ever been on one of those crazy binges?  You know where you are obsessed with something and you can’t get enough of it and just keep having it and having it?  Well that was us this weekend with The Walking Dead.  While overseas we don’t get the luxury of cable TV.  We get satellite TV.  We get about 10 channels from the AFN Network.  There shows are very limited and we don’t usually like what’s on TV.  So we rely on our Apple TV or we buy the shows on blu-ray  for our viewing pleasures! Haha

This weekend we totally went off the deep end watching The Walking Dead.  This show is obviously not kid friendly so we would have to wait till the kids were asleep.  By the time that happened we could only get a few episodes in at a time then we would start falling sleep.  We even managed to wake up at 4am to watch before the kids got up!  CRAZY!  It was nuts.  We were obsessed, we were addicts.  When we weren’t watching the show we would talk about what we would do in the event of a zombie apocalypse.  Haha!  Needless to say it was a good show.  The characters really grow on you and we started to take sides.  I was kind of weary about it at first, not really into the zombie thing, but it has really grown on us.  We were able to finish season 1 and season 2.  Can’t wait for season 3, the suspense is killing us!

Saturday Night at the Movies

Movie: Land of the Lost

Rating: **(out of 5)

Comments:  I don's know why but my husband really really really wanted to watch this movie.  It had a few moments that were funny.  We are big Will Ferrell fans and this movie was a bit disappointing.  I would never buy it or watch it again, even if it were on TV with nothing else to watch.

Saturday Night at the Movies

Movie: The Dark Knight Rises

Rating: ****(out of 5)

Comments:   This Saturday was a miracle, both kids were alseep and we {Morgan and I} stayed up to watch a movie.  This is not recommend for small children.  Mills looked at the cover of the movie and thought it was "spooky".  So we waited for them to sleep to watch.  I thought it was good!! I'm not fond of Anne Hathaway as Cat Woman, Michelle Pfeiffer is a way better Cat Woman.  Aside from that I liked it!  Apparently there were some discrepancies with the actual comic {according to Morgan} but I never read the Batman comics so everything seemed legit to me.  Oh and Joseph Gordon-Levitt was so adorbs!  They end is great and totally leaves it open for more!  I really love the Batmans' that Tim Burton directed but these new ones are very very good.

Saturday Night at the Movies

I'm a little late with this post, my bad :(

Movie: Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead
Rating: ***(out of 5)
Comments:   This movie was not the movie to watch after only having Thanksgiving a couple days prior.  That being said, it was a pretty good movie.  A man decides to take a 60 day fast from food and only drink juice for his "meals", he then travels the country to talk about his experience and others about their health and food.  Morgan and I have always talking about going on a juice fast to cleanse our bodies and this movie was definitely motivation!  The transformations are incredible and really inspiring.  I was a little disappointed with the information given,  I wish they would have provided more.  After watching this I know that we need to do this.  I think we will start after the holiday season.

Saturday Night at the Movies

Movie: 21 Jump Street

Rating: ****(out of 5)

Comments:   This movie was sooooo funny!  I love both of these guys.  I never watched the original 21 Jump Street, so I'm not sure how it relates or if it was similar.  Either way, I enjoyed it.  Definitely not a movie for the kiddies.  The story line isn't really anything deep, but it was a good comedy.  Really made me think of how things would be if I had to go back to high school. haha  I mean I had some good times in high school, but no way in hell I would go back.  Another thing, Jonah Hill was super skinny!  Good on him for getting healthy!  Both him and Channing Tatum (yummy) were hilarious to watch!

Saturday Night at the Movies

Movie: The Sitter

Rating: *** (out of 5)

Comments:  This was pretty funny, I found myself laughing.  The story was kind of out there.  The kids in the movie were cute.  There were some moments where the sitter was teaching the kids a lesson and it was pretty cute, also good lessons.   But there is no way in hell I would want this sitter watching Mills! haha I always enjoy Jonah Hill movies.  This wasn’t his funniest movie.  It’s not a family movie, lots of cursing, drugs and sex references.  It was a light hearted comedy that it good for a Saturday night.  I wouldn’t buy it on DVD, but if it were on TV I wouldn’t change the channel.

Saturday Night at the Movies

Movie: My Week with Marilyn

Rating: ****(out of 5)

Comments:   Michelle Williams was such a great Marilyn!  I have always been a big fan of Marilyn Monroe and so I needed to watch this movie.  Watching it really put her in a different light for me.  I’ve always adored her in movies and pictures, I knew she was troubled but I never really focused on that.  This movie showed a different side, a more human side….and ultimately what lead to her downfall. Either way, great movie and great portrayal of that late Miss Monroe.

Saturday Night at the Movies

Movie: Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
Rating: *****(out of 5)
Comments:  LOVED this movie!  We actually all went out and watched this in the theater.  I was not familiar with the book so I didn't know what it was about, but it looked cute.  I thought it was good.  Amelia liked it too, we stayed the whole movie.  The colors were so bright and she liked to dance with the songs.  She had her lil popcorn bag and she chomped away.  I really liked the message of this movie.  Definitely made me think about how my family and I impact this earth.  So Mills had a good time and there was a good message, I would say those equal a great movie.  I can't wait for this to go on DVD.
She loves popcorn!

Saturday Night at the Movies

Movie: Young Adult
Rating: *** (out of 5)
Comments:  I thought this movie was clever.  The comedy was a lil dark, but I liked it.  Charlize Theron was great, she pulled off being crazy  really well.   Some people just never grow up from high school.  I found it amusing that every time she was watching TV it was the Kardashians. LOL I would not recommend this for children, it is rated R.  I would say most awkward sex scene ever.  So I liked it, but I wouldn’t add it to my DVD collection.

Saturday Night at the Movies

Movie: Land Before Time
Rating: ***** (out of 5)
Comments:  I love this movie!  Mills loves dinosaurs so its only fitting for us to watch this movie.  I think she enjoyed it.  She would scream every time she saw Sharptooth, sooo cute!   It totally brought me back to my childhood.  I remember being really young and watching this movie with my brother and sister.  It was one of my faves growing up.   Ducky is still my fave!  I love being able to share this movie with my Mills!  I would definately recommend this movie for kids and this movie is part of our collection :)
